Mac Data Recovery

PACKARD BELL A950-TWR:

I have a very old desktop computer, which is a Packard Bell desktop, model number A950-TWO.
I’ve been using it for about 16 months, and there are several large documents in my files which I need to save. The problem is that I am having trouble getting beyond BIOS. When I booted up about a week ago, the system has almost completely died, and I could only get into the BIOS screen. I tried to install new programs into the system so that it now boots up quickly. But while I can get into the splash screen, I am unable to access BIOS. I can’t get into the screen in any way now. I have tried resets on the software that I tried installing, and I have also downloaded password recovery systems just in case it wanted a password. I am effectively shut out of the computer, and I don’t know what I need to do next. The computer was given to me by my boss, as it was no longer needed in the company (too old). However, I have some work-related data on there that has to be saved.

PACKARD BELL IMEDIA DESKTOP:

I have an old Packard Bell iMedia Desktop, made perhaps as long ago as the year 2000. I have been using it for a while myself, and therefore have a lot of data stored on the hard drive which is not backed up. There were some minor problems before, but what has now happened is an error message appearing when I try to boot up. This prevents me from accessing the computer. The message says that there is an error, and asks me to perform a repair using the Windows CD for XP. The message says WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM. I don’t have the CD that is required, only a Packard Bell recovery disk. I have tried this, but it has not resolved the problem. I don’t want to have to buy Windows 7 disks, as I can’t partition the drives and I want to get into the system so that I can recover my data.

Mac Data Recovery

Macs are computer devices that are designed and developed by the Apple company. The use of Mac devices has grown tremendously over the years, and many people are dedicated exclusively the use of the company’s products. There are a number of benefits associated with the use of Mac computers, and although it may simply come down to a matter of preference, there are some people that claim Mac computers offer tremendous benefits over other PC brands.
The operating system used by Mac is the Mac OS, and the current system is the Mac OS X. The operating system has a set of code names, including puma, jaguar, panther, tiger and leopard.

Benefits of Using a Mac Computer

One of the primary reasons many users report using a Mac computer over another PC is because of the security features offered by Apple products. Macs are designed with Linux-based software, which prevents accidental programming changes from occurring. This means that Macs are generally less susceptible to viruses, the deletion or alteration of programs or other security issues that can affect personal computers.
It’s also the case that many users find Macs to be subject to less overall downtime due to repair, reprogramming and reformatting.

Possible Causes of Mac System Failure

Despite the decreased likelihood of problems that can lead to data loss occurring with Macs, the possibility is still very real for Mac users. Although Mac does take special care to prevent a number of problems from occurring on a frequent basis, any mechanical device is subject to any number of errors which can lead to the loss of data. Failures can occur for a variety of reasons, from physical damage to a hard drive failure because of basic wear and tear. As is the case with most hard drives, it’s not a matter of if the hard drive will fail, but when it will fail.

Reasons Mac hard drives typically fail include:

• A virus that has corrupted the system
• Accidental reformatting of partitions
• Corrupted firmware
• Damage from fire or water
• Drives or partitions that are inaccessible
• Components of the hard drive are experiencing failure

Signs that your Mac hard drive is experiencing a potential failure:

• The machine won’t boot
• Clicking sounds coming from the computer
• Smoke
• Applications are not able to run
• Spinning “beach ball” appears on the screen
• A flashing or blinking question mark appears

How to Handle a Mac Hard Drive Failure

If you are a Mac user and you experience what seems to be a malfunction or a potential hard drive failure, the best course of action is to turn off the machine and contact a professional data recovery service. A data recovery service should be able to offer help for any range of Mac products, including laptops, notebooks, desktops, and external USB and firewire hard disk drives.

It’s generally not adequate to take a Mac device to an IT repair shop, because data recovery is a unique and highly specialized field that requires expertise and a specialized facility.
